Donna Christine Jessop, age 65, of MacLellan’s Mountain passed away on Aug. 22, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Hugh Elmer and Mary Catherine (MacDonald) Burns.

Donna was a resident of the North End in New Glasgow before moving to MacLellan’s Mountain. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Donna had worked for Fry’s Bakery, Beltone and later with MT&T Ltd. from where she retired. She was an avid bowler in the Sunday Night Bowling League and the Tuesday Morning Bowling League. She was also an associate member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club and the Pictou County Motorcycle Cruisers Club.

Donna is survived by her husband Roy Jessop, MacLellan’s Mountain; daughters Mary Carrigan, New Glasgow; Melissa Carrigan, Telford; grandchild­ren: Jamie Christene Carrigan, Riley Quinn Carrigan and Madison Jean Catherine Carrigan-Rector; step-sons Henry (Frances) Jessop, New Glasgow; Francis (Christine) Jessop, Halifax; brothers David Burns, Thorburn; James (Jean) Burns, New Glasgow; sister-in-law Marielle Burns and her children Jill and Julie.

She was predecease­d by her brother Kenneth Burns. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with father Tom MacNeil presiding. Cremation will follow with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
