HILLSIDE — The family of Rondell Putnam Humphreys, Hillside, announce his passing on Aug. 21, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital. Ron was a recent resident of Glen Haven Manor and fought Parkinson’s-Dementia.

Ron was born in Trenton, Jan. 17, 1936, a son of the late George and Jean (Smith) Humphreys.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia ‘Tish’ (Fanning); daughters, Ann (Kent) MacDougall, Sherry (Jack) Davies; sons, Rondell and Barry; grandchild­ren, Brittany and Shauna Davies, Laura and Kyle MacDougall; sister, Barbara Sutherland; brother, Blane (Helen); many nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by sisters, Vivian (Ike Murray), Marilyn (Woody MacDonald); brother, Eric; brother-in-law, Edward Sutherland.

Ron was retired from Nova Scotia Power, Trenton. He loved fishing, hunting, gospel and fiddle music, and was a sports enthusiast, being active in the Trenton Athletic Associatio­n in the 1960s, and involved with the creation of the Trenton Rink in the 1970s. He loved playing softball in those years and was an avid Leafs and Cardinals fan. Ron was always family first and enjoyed summers at the cottage at Lochaber Lake for over 50 years.

A public graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Hillside Cemetery, with friend Rev. Alfred Woodworth officiatin­g. Reception to follow at Nazarene Church Hall, Trenton, to 7 p.m. Family flowers only.

Donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit, c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation or a charity of your choice.
