Olive Catherine Ross, 85 of Plymouth, Pictou County passed away Aug. 25, 2017 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her loving family by her side.

Born in McGrath’s Mountain she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel (Robson)Foote.

Olive was a resident of Plymouth for the past 65 years where she was a member of the Golden Glen Seniors Card Club. In her younger years, she was employed at the Ceildh Drive In, and later on as a cook, with the former James Diner from where she retired. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stellarton where she was a member of the AMS. Olive could be found cooking up a storm in her kitchen, kicking up her heels at the old time dances in Lorne, putting in her own firewood or picking blueberries on the family fields at Upper Barney’s River. She took great pleasure in attending many church and community functions and luncheons, attending card clubs and socializing with her many friends.

Olive enjoyed listening to the Saturday night ho-down, knitting, cooking and baking( biscuits, pies and fudge were her specialties). She took great joy in her weekly Wednesday night suppers, dubbed “Freeloader Night”, where family, friends and neighbours could sit down to a home cooked laden table that was always full, and yet, she always had room for one more.

She will be dearly missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have called her mother, mother-inlaw, grammie, great-grammie, sister, aunt or friend.

She is survived by her children: a daughter Darlene(Kevin)Bonvie, Elgin; sons: Wally (Alma), Plymouth; Malcolm (Florence), Plymouth; Sydney ”Sid”, Plymouth; Bradley (Heather), Plymouth; Neil (Debbie), Springville; Craig (Tracey), Stellarton; 11 grandchildren: Brandon, Trevor, Tyler, Natasha, Shawn, Nicole, Sonya, Kara, Steven, Bryan, and Liam; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Melvin (Donelda), French River; Lawrence (Eileen), Pine Tree; special friend Frances Holmes.

Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday with Rev. Charles MacPherson presiding.
