MUNRO, Alexander Forbes “Alex” age 99, of Lyons Brook, passed away Dec. 10 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Three Brooks, he was a son of the late Adam and Margaret (Burke) Munro.

Alex served in World War II and lived in his own home until the age of 99. He loved sitting in his sunporch watching the trucks drive by, chatting with his daughter, beating his son at crib, and being surrounded by his family, friends and neighbours. He especially enjoyed visits from his many grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children. He regularly watched curling and never missed a Toronto Blue Jays game.

Alex is survived by daughter Shirley (John) McDougall, son Robert (Aline) ;grandchild­ren, David (Amanda), Leah (Dan), Andrew (Laura), Mark (Stephanie); great-grandchild­ren, Staci, Christophe­r, Alexander, Patrick, Matthew, Mae, Gus, Beau and Oliver; several stepchildr­en in Ontario and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his first wife Florence (Johnson), second wife, Edith MacLean, third wife, Elda Beck; grandson, Ian Munro; brothers, Barrie, Bill and sister, Pearl.

The family would like to thank Dr. Marion MacDonald, nurses and staff of the 4th and 5th floors of the Aberdeen Hospital for their kind and compassion­ate care. A special thanks to Bernice Bigney for her special care and attention over the years. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at St. Andrews Presbyteri­an Church, Pictou with Jacquie Ross officiatin­g. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery, reception to follow in the church hall.
