PCA getting set for new season

Pictou County Athletics is warming up for another year.

The club is in its sixth year of operation and will start the 2018 season in early January.

The programs included are:

■ Run, Jump, Throw and Wheel (ages 5-9). It operates for eight weeks after March break and six weeks during the summer.

■ Trailblaze­rs (ages 9-12). It begins on Jan. 5 with registrati­on and first practice at the William M. Sobeys Indoor Soccer Facility from 5-6:30 p.m, and the other practice day is Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the YMCA of Pictou County. The eight-month program competes at competitio­ns within Nova Scotia, both indoor and outdoor events. Registrati­on starts at 4 p.m. on Jan. 5.

■ 13 + Program. It starts Jan. 3 at the YMCA from 7:40 to 9:30 p.m. Other practice days are Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at NNEC and Fridays from 4-6 p.m. at the indoor soccer facility. The eightmonth program competes within the Maritime Provinces at both indoor and outdoor competitio­ns

Registrati­on begins at 7 p.m. on Jan. 3 at the YMCA and 3:30 at the indoor soccer facility on Jan. 5.

■ Masters Program (ages 35 and up). Registrati­on and practices are at the same times as the Trailblaze­rs (see above). The men and women compete in local competitio­ns, both indoors and outdoors, within the Maritime provinces.
