Tavern robbery suspect still on the loose

-

New Glasgow police are still searching for Shawn Michael Bonvie, the man police believe robbed the Glasgow Pub in New Glasgow two months ago.

“We’re still looking for him, and there was a Canada-wide warrant out for him,” said Const. Ken MacDonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police Service on Friday.

Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 12, New Glasgow Regional Police were called to the tavern on Stewart Street. According to information obtained in their investigation, a lone suspect entered the tavern and demanded money. One staff member was present and was grabbed, assaulted and forced into a room. Another employee suffered minor injuries.

The suspect, whom police believe to be Bonvie, fled on foot with a quantity of cash.

Bonvie is described as a 36-year-old white male with short brown hair, blue eyes, 5’8” and approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown zip-up hooded sweater.

“It’s still a criminal investigation and file by the major crime unit,” MacDonald said, adding that in these types of cases, “we still rely heavily on getting information from the public.”

Anyone with information about this incident or the location of Bonvie is asked to contact New Glasgow Regional Police at 902-752-1941.
