Dale Henderson
WESTVILLE – The family of Dale Henderson announce her passing on Jan. 9., 2018, after a short battle with cancer.
Dale is survived by her loving husband of 46 remarkable years, Douglas “Doug” Henderson. Together their greatest joys and accomplishments were their five children: Thomas (Rena) of Houston, BC; Sarah (Mark) Stellarton, NS; Erin McGrath (Shawn) of Bridgewater, NS; Jonathan (Diana) of Grand Prairie, AB, and Jeremy (Melissa) of Westville, NS. From those five children they were the delighted grandparents of seventeen and three great-grandchildren.
Dale also leaves behind her five siblings: David (Frances) Tanner of Ottawa, Ruth (Paul) Goulden of Wolfville, James (Leesa) Tanner of Ottawa, Sharon (Bill) Barber of Ottawa and Barb (Benji Fougere) Tanner-Fougere of Dartmouth, NS, and many nieces, nephews and a grandniece. Dale has been reunited with her late parents George and Mary Tanner.
A resident of Pictou County almost her entire life, she touched the lives of many through her activities and through those of her children. Dale was a hockey Mom and Nana for over four decades, attending her sons’ hockey games and then her grandchildren’s games. She handed down her love of the pipe band to her daughters Sarah and Erin and stayed involved as a band Mom for many years. She would attend her children’s baseball games on the hockey off season. An accomplished baker, she passed this love along to her children and siblings and often shared plenty of recipes, like, a lot. Dale had many loves including indoor and outdoor plants, sharing her plant babies with many.
She loved her pets and especially her cat Maluncus. She had many, many, many photos of kitties in her collection of photos, showing her love of her fur babies throughout the years.
Her family will receive visitors on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 o’clock from eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Rev. Mary Taylor officiating.
No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
