THORBURN – It is with great sadness we announce the death of Gordon Douglas MacLeod, age 80 of Reeves Rd., Thorburn, who passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018.

Born in MacLellans Brook, he was the son of the late Gordon and Minnie (MacDonald) MacLeod.

He retired from Trenton Works, prior to that he worked as a truck driver for multiple companies, also he worked as a pulp cutter and a miner at the Thorburn McBain mine.

He was a loyal Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed watching all of the sports his grandchild­ren played. He loved playing pool, he also was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and spending time at his cottage in New Harbour.

He is survived by his companion, Shirley Cameron. His 6 children: Bonnie MacLeod (Rob MacNaughto­n), Doug (Carol) MacLeod, Susan MacLeod (Danny Brezinski), Vivian (George) Chisholm, Belinda (Mike) Hasler and Becky MacLeod (Billy MacPhee). 11 grandchild­ren: Lauchie, Jennifer, Robyn, Adam, Kaylee, Christian, Ashley, Kaitlan, Michael, Noah and Andrew. 8 great-grandchild­ren and one more on the way.

His chosen Sisters and Brothers, Jackie, Mary, Margaret, Cliffy and Norma Jean.

He is pre-deceased by Grannie Mae (Mom) and grandson Josh Chisholm.

His remains will rest at H.W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow Sunday, Jan 14th, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiatin­g.

Donations can be made to St. Martha’s Stroke Unit or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.
