Rebecca Mae McDonald

-

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the death of our youngest sister, Rebecca Mae McDonald on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed away at the Victoria General in Halifax surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of the late Tena and Mike McDonald of Westville.

Following graduations from Westville High, Nova Scotia Teachers’ College and Mount St. Vincent, she pursued an impressive teaching career for thirty-six years. She taught in Northport, Amherst and finished her career in Truro as the Elementary Mathematics Consultant P-6 for Chignecto - Central Regional School Board.

Rebecca’s great success in teaching grew from a love of children and a love of books. She touched the hearts and minds of countless children and teachers over the years.

She will be greatly missed by sisters, Andrella (Fred) Hodder, Roberta MacKean, brother, Michael (Joyce) McDonald, and many nieces, great-nieces, nephews and greatnephews.

She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Billie MacKean.

In honour of Rebecca’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, and her family will celebrate her life privately at a later date.

Donations may be made in Rebecca’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Bee’s Anglican Church, Westville.
