Local generosity helped food bank
To the editor,
On behalf of the Pictou County East Food Bank, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who made donations to the Food Bank in 2017.
To the many groups and individuals who collect food and make cash donations on a regular basis — including the employees of local businesses such as Sobeys, Superstore, Walmart and Northern Pulp to name only a few; and also the schools, fire departments, service clubs and other organizations — your ongoing food drives and cash donations show your dedication to the elimination of food insecurity in Pictou County.
We would like to thank Tim Hortons for their generous donation of funds raised during the week of their “Smile Cookie” campaign and their ongoing support of our Annual Food Drive.
To Connors Transfer for once again lending us a trailer for the food drive, thank you.
To CKEC and NG News for advertising and promoting the food drive and for the radio remote broadcasting on-site the entire day, thank you.
To everyone who supported this event, thank you for making it our most successful food drive to date. This is our biggest food and fundraising event of the year, and once again, the people and businesses of Pictou County surpassed our expectations.
The Board of Directors and volunteers of the Pictou County East Food Bank sincerely thank you for your ongoing generosity and extend our best wishes for a happy and healthy 2018. Jane Taylor
