• Crown the Queen Fundraiser

– Summer Street Industries 4 p.m. Tickets sold 1:30-3:30 p.m. with draw at 4. Tickets also available through the week at New Beginnings (Summer Street), Tip Top Tailors, Cross Roads Country Market, Fast Gas and East End Grocery.

• Pictou County Fly Tyers Club – Meets 6:30-9 p.m. at the Stellarton Seniors Club building at the corner of Park Street and Acadia Avenue. All necessary instructio­ns, equipment and materials will be provided. Novice and experience­d tyers are welcomed.

• Karaoke – Westville Legion, 7 p.m.

• Meat Roll – Pictou Legion, 2 p.m. All welcome.

• Meditation – East River Meditation Centre, New Glasgow, 7 p.m. All welcome, please call ahead, 755-4325.

• Hootenanny – Stellarton legion, 6-10 p.m. $7 per person.

• Cafe and Market – Merigomish Schoolhous­e Community Centre, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. featuring a brunch and local market items for sale.

• Tea – Star of the Sea Centre after the 11:15 a.m. Stella Maris Mass. Everyone welcome.

• Dance – Stellarton legion 6-10 p.m. Cost $7 per person.

Mondays

• Card Party – Auction 45s at 7 p.m. at the Meadowvill­e - Poplar Hill Community Hall. Everyone welcome.

• Drop-in Badminton – For adults at New Glasgow Academy 7:30 p.m.9:30 p.m. New members welcome.

• TOPS Group – Take Pounds Off Sensibly, non-profit organizati­on, Superstore community room, 9:3011:30 a.m.

• Mixed Darts – New Glasgow 55+ Club, 1:30 p.m., New Glasgow Fire Hall.

• Over 50 Prize Bingo – Royal Canadian Legion, New Glasgow, 1:30 p.m. Lunch served.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day

– March 8, The Pictou County Women’s Resource and Sexual Assault

Centre will be hosting a breakfast, keynote, and Q&A with Hon. Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard, PhD, C.M, O.N.S., 7:3010:30 a.m., tickets $15. Space is limited. Tickets can be picked up at The Centre, 503 S Frederick St., New Glasgow.

February 10

• Free Sewing Service – For the community, First Baptist Church, 896 East River Rd., New Glasgow. Small repairs and hems. Drop-off time 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sewers are encouraged to come and assist. Contact Donna Cooper 902-7550841.

• Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner – Sponsored by 374 Air Cadets, 110 Wing, 221 Foord St., Stellarton, 4-7 p.m. Spaghetti, garlic bread, nonalcohol­ic beverage, dessert. • Trenton Legion – Auction 45’s 1pm. ’50s & ’60s theme Valentine dance 8 p.m.-12. Music by KGB Ent. $6.00 /person. Gov’t ID’s on request. Prize for best costume.

• Prize Bingo – Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Sister Catherine Steele Centre, 1 p.m., doors open 12:30. 3 card books of 15 games for $10. Fun and a chance to win prizes! Compliment­ary tea, coffee and snacks! Canteen available.

• Stellarton Legion – Smelt Fry 11 a.m. till sold out. Smelts, salad, roll, tea or coffee, take outs available, $10 a plate. Valentine’s Dance 8 p.m.-12, music by Cape Breton Rocking Country. Admission $8 pp. Lunch provided, raffle, treats for the ladies.

• Family Valentine Day Bingo – Pictou library 3-4 p.m. Challenge mom, dad, brother or sister. Prizes courtesy of Adopt-a-Library literacy program.

February 10-11

• North End Winter Carnival – Saturday: 8-11 a.m., Pancake breakfast – Adults $5, Children $3, Family $15. 9 p.m.-1 a.m. – Dance with Pistol Packin’ Papas, 19+ event. Admission $15. Cash bar. Sunday 2 - 4 p.m. sledding party - Dover Avenue Hill with hot chocolate.

February 11

• Chase the Ace – For Westville Rink and Westville Legion 1-3 p.m. held at Westville Legion Br35. Current jackpot is $12,426.

February 12

• Women Alike Group – Meeting at Glen Haven Manor (back door) 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rhonda Langille, Palliative Care, Aberdeen Hospital. This is a meeting for breast cancer survivors. There will snacks provided at the end.

February 13

• Mental Illness Family Support Group – Meeting Room B-120, NSCC, 39 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, 7-9 p.m. Suzy Teubner from 211 will make a presentati­on on the free, confidenti­al 211 informatio­n service that can connect you to thousands of programs and services in Nova Scotia. All welcome.

• Worship – In the style of Taize. All are welcome to join us at Green Hill - Alma United Church, 7:30 p.m., as we prepare our hearts and minds to enter the Lenten Journey in a quiet reflective way.

• Weekly Music Circle Jam – West Branch Community Hall 6:309:30 p.m. Admission for players is free, listeners free will, $2.50 suggested. Light refreshmen­ts. Proceeds to Community Hall.

• Prostate Cancer Support Associatio­n – Meeting 7 p.m. in the UCT building behind Summer Street Ind., Park St., New Glasgow. Guest speaker Loraine Tobin, a Geriatric Physiother­apist on the topic Healthy Lifestyle – Keep Moving. Public is invited to attend. Wheelchair accessible. Social time.
