50 Plus Club of New Glasgow meets

The 50 Plus Club of New Glasgow (formerly known as the 55 Plus Club) met at the New Glasgow Fire Department on Feb. 7 for their regular monthly meeting. President Kathleen opened the meeting with the senior’s prayer and song. President Kathleen approved the minutes of Jan. 3, carried by the raising of hands by the members.

Activities — all events going well, still room available in all the activities.

Sunday night 45’s are opened to the public, played at the New Glasgow Fire Department upstairs, 7 p.m. on. Lunch is supplied.

The executives of the 50 Plus Club of New Glasgow have nominated Betty Jennex as the volunteer of the year to represent the club with the Town of New Glasgow.

A thank you went out to John Glendwin for helping Terry Peeters with the Wednesday 45’s.

On Feb. 14, 1:30 p.m., there will be a tea and auction for 50 Plus Club members at the New Glasgow Fire Department (upstairs). Members wishing to bring things for the secret auction may do so.

Grand opening of the Salvation Army in New Glasgow will be Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Salvation Army Westville, Wednesday, Feb. 21, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lunch will consist of meat loaf, rice, apple crisp, coffee and tea. This is free to the public, there will be prizes given out.

50/50 lucky winner of both prizes was Isabel Lowe, winning $42.

Speaker for the month of February was Cindy Dean, with the Foot Clinic in Stellarton, giving members informatio­n on the different services she can provide people with foot problems, There were do’s and don’ts provided regarding your feet. The members enjoyed the informatio­n given and asked questions on the subject.

We would like to thank Terry Peeters, Diane Gay and Cheryl Morrison for providing the lunch for the March meeting.

The meeting was adjourned by Margaret Casey and Diane Gay.
