New Glasgow Regional Police say the actions of a local resident helped them apprehend an impaired driver.

On Friday, at approximately 5:50 p.m., New Glasgow Regional arrested a 56-year-old from Pictou County for impaired driving, after a concerned citizen called 911 to report a speeding Chevrolet truck had just collided with a parked Toyota Rav4.

Regional police immediately responded to the area of North Avenue, New Glasgow, and arrested the male driver from Pictou County.

The driver was charged with Impaired Driving, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample.

The driver will appear in court at a later date.

Const. Ken MacDonald said, “the quick response of the citizen calling 911 to report the impaired driver may have saved lives.”
