• Music Circle Jam – West Branch Community Hall, 7-10 p.m. Admission for players is free, listeners free will, $2.50 suggested. Light refreshmen­ts. Proceeds to Community Hall.

• Jam Sessions – Durham Community Hall at 7 p.m. Shared lunch. Silver collection greatly appreciate­d.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day – March 8, The Pictou County Women’s Resource and Sexual Assault Centre will be hosting a breakfast, keynote, and Q&A with Hon. Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard, PhD, C.M, O.N.S., 7:30-10:30 a.m., tickets $15. Space is limited. Tickets can be picked up at The Centre, 503 S Frederick St., New Glasgow.

• Mental Illness Family Support Group – Meeting Room B-120, NSCC, 39 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, 7-9 pm. Suzy Teubner from 211 will make a presentati­on on the free, confidenti­al 211 informatio­n service that can connect you to thousands of programs and services in Nova Scotia. All welcome.

• Worship – In the style of Taize. All are welcome to join us at Green Hill - Alma United Church, 7:30 p.m., as we prepare our hearts and minds to enter the Lenten Journey in a quiet reflective way.

• Valentine Tea and Auction – Hosted by the 55 plus club of New Glasgow 1:30 p.m. upstairs at the New Glasgow Fire Department. Members if they wish can donate a gift towards the action. Free parking for members with parking passes.

• Pictou County Injured Workers Associatio­n – Meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Parish Hall, High Street, New Glasgow. All members are encouraged to attend.

• Prostate Cancer Support Associatio­n – Meeting 7 p.m. in the UCT building behind Summer Street Ind., Park St., New Glasgow. Guest speaker Loraine Tobin, a Geriatric Physiother­apist on the topic Healthy Lifestyle – Keep Moving. Public is invited to attend. Wheelchair accessible. Social time.

• Trenton Legion – Monthly meeting 7 p.m.

• 100 Kids Who Care Pictou County – Meeting 6 p.m. at the West Side Community Centre. Kids and teens, aged 4-15 come together with $10 each to donate to a charity. We ask that they bring a food bank donation too. Each child nominates a charity to receive the donation and the kids vote. 100% of donations go to the organizati­ons chosen. • Dance & Drumming – Traditiona­l and modern African dance & drumming workshop with Maritime Centre for African Dance, New Glasgow library 11:30 a.m. Everyone welcome.

• Valentine’s Coffee Party – St. Andrew’s Ladies Guild, New Glasgow, (George St. entrance) 10 a.m.-12, with pantry table. $7 admission.

• Cape Breton Style – Square Dance at Plymouth Community Centre. Come to listen or come to dance, everyone welcome! Music by Heather Cameron, Lorna Kennedy, and Fhinn Timmons. Beginners lesson at 6:30 p.m. led by Irene Endicott. Dance begins at 7. $5 or by donation.

Chase the Ace – Trenton Legion spons. by Trenton Fire Dept and Br. #29. Tickets sold 2-4 p.m. with draw to follow. Must be present to win. This week’s jackpot starts at $20,660. Karaoke with KGB Ent. right after draw 4:30-9 p.m.

• Family Fun Day – Hosted by River John and Sunrise Trail 4-H clubs at the River John Legion 2-4 p.m. as part of River John Winter Carnival. Lots of games, cakewalk and mini cafe.

February 19

• Free Family Skate – Sponsored by Shiretown Dental at Hector Arena, Pictou, 3-5 p.m. Hot chocolate will be provided.
