Time to give myself a good talking to

- Hey There ... It’s Me, Kathy Kathy Golemiec

How was your week? This weather is something else — one day it’s freezing the next it’s warm.

I like that the snow is almost gone. That’s great, just be careful, there is still a bit of ice around and it’s coming on spring so watch where you step.

Thank you for all the good vibes. All my tumours are shrinking and all my friends are getting better. No new brain tumours, still the same one, but it’s shrinking up to nothing. They are taking me off the steroids. I was on them a week and now it’s going to take a month to get me off them. I had chemo yesterday and it wasn’t too bad. All my blood test numbers were fine, so that’s a good thing.

I’m very tired though, and my hands are still numb — the fingertips feel like there are pins and needles in them.

Thank you for the letters and gifts and cards. You can write to me anytime care of the paper and they make sure I get it. I’m always happy to hear from you, it brightens my day.

My daughter Kerry took me on to the weight loss challenge she is doing. It’s so quick to put it on but takes forever to take it off. I am 149, and for me that is a lot. So I have to sit down and give myself a good talking to.

When you live alone making meals is not one of the things on the top of your list of things to do. Grab something quick and then have a lie-down. I sure wish my hands worked better. Then I could get some things done.

Dad and Janet were over last weekend and we went to the flea market. I wasn’t feeling that great so we left early.

Monday, went to town and the truck decided to break down. It was the starter. I had to get it towed home, darn, there went the flea market money, but the truck is working well now with a new starter.

I have been having heartburn now, something I usually never have, but the flavoured Tums take it away with just two. Nothing hurts as much as heart burn, I don’t like it at all.

My Christmas cactus is in bloom again.

It’s been great since my father bought me the poopy stoopy — life has been a breeze.

The VON comes to check on me three times a week. I’m always doing OK — same complaint all the time, my shoulder and fingers.

Thank you Betty and Carol for also helping at the market.

My friend Mary looks so much better since her triple bypass. Her colour is great. Thank you for all the prayers and good vibes for Mary. She is going to be a new woman now, woohoo.

Hopefully we will be able to go camping this summer. We have a lot of adventures and we have a lot of fun. Now that she is going to be healthy we will be great.

Have a good week folks and I hope everyone had a great St. Valentine’s. Romance is in the air… almost.

Kathy Golemiec is undergoing cancer treatments and writes about her experiences each week.
