Sir Frederick Banting IODE holds meeting

The regular monthly meeting of Sir Frederick Banting Chapter IODE was held Feb. 7 at Sobeys Westside community room.

President Josie McInnis welcomed members. Prayer was offered in unison, and 12 members answered roll call, with 155 volunteer hours reported.

Correspond­ence was received from Ruth Murray, acting provincial secretary.

Following reports by officers the annual meeting opened with the nominating report.

Past president Brenda Wark installed the new officers for 2018 as follows: past president Josie McInnis; vice president Brenda Wark; president Brenda Dunn; secretary Carolyn MacKay; treasurer Bev McGuigan; assistant secretary Barb Le Blonde; services Teela Billington; education Margie Fraser; citizenshi­p Evelyn MacLeod; standard bearer Marion MacNeil; membership Marlene MacLellan; communicat­ions Teela Billington; Royal Canadian heritage Muriel MacDougall; and shop convener Rita Knoester.

Refreshmen­ts and fellowship followed. The next meeting will be held March 7 at Sobeys community room.

The Nearly New Shop located behind the New Glasgow fire station is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. New and used clothing and items can be dropped off during these hours.
