-

Four members of the Weeks hockey family have been awarded bursaries from the annual Scott Weeks Bursaries.

Presenting the individual awards Thursday were Audrey Weeks and Weeks Hockey organization president Wade Sullivan.

The Bursary Program recognize former and current players of the Weeks Major Midgets and Weeks Crushers Junior ‘A’ hockey program who have excelled academically, socially and athletically within the communities in which they live and have played.

The late Scott Weeks was one of the founders of the Weeks organization.

“The board of directors have always believed and continue to believe in the importance of developing sound character and life skills within the players of our two programs, so that they can be effective contributors to their communities and outstanding citizens,” Sullivan said.

This year’s bursary award recipients are:

• Riley Bance: Riley is from Tracadie, N.S., and played two years for the Weeks Midget AAAs. He is now at University of Ottawa taking his bachelor of commerce.

• Donovan Rehill: Donovan is from Antigonish, and joined the Junior A Crushers this past offseason. He currently attends St. FX, taking Business.

• Luke Melanson: Luke hails from Truro and played three seasons with the Weeks Major Midgets and is now in his second season with the Junior A Crushers. Luke is a math major at St. FX.
