Gladys May Henderson, age 96, of Antigonish and formerly of Country Harbour, Guysboroug­h Co., passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, surrounded by her family in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.

Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Foster and Martha (Silver) Cooke.

Gladys was known for her baking and cooking. She enjoyed family meals. Gladys was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by son, John, Park Falls; daughters, Joan MacDougall, Williamswo­od; Ella Wallace, Antigonish; Georgia Henderson (Elmer Bowie), Merland; Eleanor (Brian) Stewart, Park Falls; 24 grandchild­ren, numerous great-grandchild­ren and great-great-grandchild­ren; son-inlaw, Henry Hudson, Country Harbour; several nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her husband, John; daughter, Gladys Hudson, brother, Tyrus Cooke, sisters: Margaret Sinclair, Olive MacKay, Mary Kendrick, Daisy MacKay, Louise Cooke, daughter-in-law, Mary Henderson.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour, from where funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Derek Elsworth officiatin­g. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Cross Roads Country Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
