Sir Frederick Banting Chapter IODE meets

The regular monthly meeting of Sir Frederick Banting Chapter IODE was held March 7 at Sobeys Westside community room. President Brenda Dunn welcomed members. A minute of silence was observed in memory of longtime member Muriel McDougall.

Prayer was offered in unison, 13 members answered roll call with 165 volunteer hours reported.

Secretary Carolyn MacKay read minutes from the previous meeting. Correspond­ence was received from the fuel fund, music festival and Tearmann House. Treasurer Bev McGuigan Gave a favourable report.

Education officer Margie Fraser noted the bursary applicatio­ns will be in schools by April 1.

Service officer Teela Billington reported 10 bags delivered to Tearmann House.

Members approved a donation be made to the New Glasgow Music Festival and the fuel fund.

A bag sale will be held at the Nearly New Shop on Tuesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 29. The Nearly New Shop, located behind the New Glasgow fire station, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. New and good used clothing items can be dropped off during these hours.
