Dorothy May Bernard (nee Martin), 85 of Pictou Landing First Nation passed away April 11, 2018, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Pictou Landing on May 29, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Lucy (Francis) Martin of Restigouch­e, Quebec.

Dorothy is leaving behind her loving son, Gary, Pictou Landing First Nation; sistersin-law: Madeline Martin, Truro; Bernadette Bernard, Mary Gladys Bernard, Mary Elizabeth Francis (Alan) all of Pictou Landing First Nation; Katherine Helstowski, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Colin Bernard, Pictou Landing First Nation.

She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews throughout Nova Scotia and Restigouch­e, Que., as well as other parts of the country.

Dorothy was predecease­d by her loving husband Bernie, sisters: Irene, Bridget, Annie, Mary Jane, Janet and Martha, brothers: Max, Frank, Fred, Matthew and Danny. Dorothy lived several years in Framingham, Mass., before returning to Pictou Landing. In her earlier years, Dorothy enjoyed her summers in Maligomish and visiting her relatives in Restigouch­e, Quebec.

Dorothy was a breast cancer survivor.

Her remains will rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation, after 7 p.m. Saturday from where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday with Father Vargheese presiding. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
