Edith V. Cavanaugh

WESTVILLE RD. – Edith Vinten Cavanaugh, age 93 of Westville Rd., Pictou County, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born in Isaac’s Harbour, she was a daughter of the late William John Gordon and Lucy (Vinten) Sinclair.

Edith was a resident of Westville Rd. since 1988, prior to which she resided in Truro for a number of years. She operated the New to You Book Store in Truro for a number of years and also worked in nursing homes and motels in that area. Edith was a member of the Pictou County Arts and Crafts Association.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Bruce) MacKay of Westville Rd.; grandchildren, Kevin Bell and Loretta Bell; brothers, Marshall Sinclair of Truro and Alvin Sinclair of Abercrombie; sisters, Elizabeth (Anthony) Smediale of Melford, Sask., Fanny (Robert) Porter of Abercrombie.

She was predeceased by her first husband, James Wilfred Hanham, second husband, Ira J. Cavanaugh, daughter, Shirley Haggart, son, Richard Hanham, brothers, Bill and Geo rge.

Cremation has taken place, a public graveside service will be held in the Abercrombie Cemetery on Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
