WEEKLY EVENTS Fridays

• WoW Women on Wheels – Pictou library 10 a.m. (beginning May 11), info, healthy snack and ride. In partnershi­p with Pictou rec.

• New Glasgow 50-Plus Club – Bingo 1:30 p.m. second Friday of each month.

• Chase the Ace – Stellar Curling Club & RCAFA Wing 110 hall (Foord St, Stellarton), 6-8 p.m. Ticket drawn at approx. 8:20.

• Chase the Ace – River John Legion. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets sold 6:30-8:30 p.m. with draw at 9 p.m. Tickets three for $5, seven for $10 and 15 for $20. Must be present to win. Music by The Geezer.

• Chase the Ace – With entertainm­ent at Pictou Legion, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

• Cribbage – Westville legion, 7:30 p.m. Admission $5. Meat Darts, 8 p.m., cost $4. All welcome.

• Card Party – St Bee’s Church Hall, Westville. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cards start at 7:30 p.m. Cash prizes, plus lunch is served.

• Knitting Circle – The Stellar Knitters, 1 p.m. at Stellarton library, novice and experience­d. Yarn and needles can be supplied or bring your own project.

• Toddle Time – 10:15-11:15 a.m., Westville Library, ages 18 months-3 years. Stories, songs, games, crafts. To register, 902-396-5022.

• Gamers Afterschoo­l – 3-5 p.m., Westville library. Drop in for a gaming session for children ages 8-14.

• Live Music – Trenton Legion with Dennis & Bud, plus special guest, Paul Tupper, 8 p.m.-close.

May 5

• Gaelic Song Workshop – Join singer Mary Jane Lamond to explore N.S. Gaelic culture and a variety of songs from old to new. Highland Square Mall 10 a.m.-3 p.m., cost $35. Please bring a brown bag lunch. To register: sobaidh@ns.sympatico.ca

• Spring Coffee Party – Hosted by Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter IODE at UCT Building, Summer St. Industries, 10 a.m.-12. Cost $7.

• Variety Concert – 7 p.m. at the Westville Gym, hosted by Westville Social Committee. Free will offering will be donated to Westville Rotary Club’s Splash Park. Participan­ts include: Hughie & Allan, Gary Connors, John Muirhead, Paul Tupper, Anthony, Nicholas and Lana Vautour, Amanda MacIntosh and students.

• Road to Recovery Walk – Carmichael Park on George St., New Glasgow, 11 a.m. followed by free BBQ. Join us to raise awareness for mental illness and help to reduce stigma. Fun, food and door prizes, we would love to have you with us. For info please contact Elaine Garland at 902695-6118.

• Comic Book Day – New Glasgow library. Book giveaway and scavenger hunt. All ages. At Pictou library, come in costume if you want, complete

a super hero quest.

• DJ Dance – Benefit for Wayne Watters, Westville legion 8 p.m.-12, $5 at the door.

• Multi Table Yard Sale – Garden of Eden Community Hall, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Variety of items including furniture, home baking etc., barbecue, free admission.

• Auction 45s – Trenton Legion 1 p.m.

• Flower Crafts – Pictou library. Creat an unusual spring flower, materials provided.

• Coffee Party – First Presbyteri­an, Stellarton, 10 a.m.-12. Pantry, craft, novelty, fudge tables. Admission $6.

• Prize Bingo – Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Stellarton (Yellow Building behind church) 1 p.m. $10 for 15 games 3 up booklet. Plenty of great prizes.

May 6

• Alma Cemetery – Annual meeting at 3 p.m. at Green Hill - Alma United Church. Lot holders and other interested persons are welcome to attend.

• NFB Film Club – Pictou library 1 p.m. Hand. Line. Cod., about fishermen on Fogo Island. Bluefin, shot in P.E.I., the mystery of why bluefin tuna no longer fear humans.

• Pictou County Parkinson Support Group – Meeting 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the community meeting room of the Atlantic Superstore. Guest speaker Krista Cullen, occupation­al therapist.

• Women Together – Pictou County Women’s Resource Centre 10-11:30 a.m. How to journal and DIY spa day.

May 9

• Community Café – Pictou library 1:30-3:30 p.m. Barb Smith from Senior Safety program will discuss cons and fraud and identity theft.

• NS Walk Day – Meet at Pictou library at 11:30 a.m. for a walk

through town.

• Vital Conversati­on – NSCC Cafeteria 6 p.m. To help guide in creating a Vital Signs Report for Pictou County. United Way of Pictou County is investing in this report to help understand the needs of our community and to identify gaps.
