• Death Café – Hosted by Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, New Glasgow library community room 6:30 p.m. Discussion group to help demystify death and dispel fears. Preregistr­ation required: 902-752-8233.

• Voice & Piano Recital – Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, 7:30 p.m., featuring Soprano, Skylar Cameron, Baritone, Branden Olsen, and Rachel O’Brien, Piano. Admission: by donation.

May 11-13

• May Days – Hosted by Friends of Redtail Society, top of Porter Road, Pictou West, on public lands bordering FRS land and MacKay Brook Nature Reserve. Night sit Friday 8 p.m.; tree planting demo Saturday 10 a.m.; 24-hour fast to bring good energy and intention to the environmen­tal and social struggles in Pictou County. All welcome.

May 12

• Mother’s Day Turkey Dinner – Mill Brook Community Club. Adults $12/children under 12 $6. Seatings at 4 & 5 p.m. Takeouts available. Tickets sold in advance. Pantry table. Contact 902-396-3798 or 902-3964275.

• Mother’s Day Crafts – Pictou library, materials provided. Also, bingo at 3 p.m., ages 4 and up.

• Night Of Music – Abercrombi­e Community Centre 7 p.m. Local musicians, followed by a sing-a-long. Refreshmen­ts. Donation box at door. Everyone welcome!

• Potluck Supper – Being held by East River Pastoral Charge at Springvill­e Church Hall 4-6 p.m. Adults $10, children $5. Pantry Table, takeouts available.

• Community Supper – Garden of Eden Hall 4-6 p.m. Adults $12, children $6, 5 and under free.

• Mother’s Day Tea – Westville legion 12-3 p.m., tea and sweets, $5 per person, kids under 5 free.

• Auction 45’s – Trenton Legion 1 p.m.

• Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast – Abercrombi­e Fire Hall 8-11 a.m. Adults $7, children 5-12 $5, children 5 and under free. Takeout available.

• Arisaig Lobster Dinner – Mother’s Day, Arisaig Hall, Hwy. 245, Antigonish County, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes ¼ lb. fresh lobster meat, salad, roll or biscuit, pie or strawberry sundae, beverage, takeout and ham dinner also available. • Karaoke – Trenton Legion with KGB Ent. 3-9 p.m.

• Mother’s Day Dance – Stellarton legion, 6-10 p.m. Admission $8. Music by Meridith, shared lunch, flowers for the ladies, gift for the oldest mom.

• Crown the Queen – Jackpot over $30,000. Advance tickets: Summer Street Industries, Fas Gas, Tip Top Tailors, Cross Roads Country Market, Cornish’s and East End Grocery; also Sundays at Summer Street Industries 1:30-3:30 pm. • RoadWorks by Hanna Minzloff – Temporary exhibit of everyday scenes of Nova Scotia workers, Museum of Industry, Stellarton, Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free admission to view this exhibit.
