• RoadWorks by Hanna Minzloff – Temporary exhibit of everyday scenes of Nova Scotia workers, Museum of Industry, Stellarton, Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free admission to view this exhibit.

May 23

• Documentar­y – Josiah, at New Glasgow library 7 p.m. Traces Josiah Henson’s harrowing journey from slavery in Maryland and Kentucky to freedom in Canada.

• Reading Aloud – “The Ghost Horse of the Mounties” written by Sean O Huigin, in the parlour of Sharon St. John United Church, 35 Acadia Ave., 2 p.m. Event for interested seniors. Tea and snacks to follow. Goodwill offering not necessary but gratefully accepted.

• Pictou Garden Club – Meeting, Odd Fellows Home community room 7 p.m. Marla Cameron, Pictou County Waste Management, will speak on use of worm castings. All welcome.

• Auction/Dessert Evening – St. Paul United Church, Westville. Viewing 6:30 p.m., auction 7 p.m. All new items, baked goods, gift certificat­es. Dessert, tea, coffee during intermissi­on. Admission $5.

• Spring Scavenger Hunt – Pictou library 1:30-3:30 p.m. Search for signs of spring, win a prize. Bingo 2:30 p.m. for children and families.

• Spring Tea & Sale – Fundraiser by Blue Mountain Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the fire hall. Sandwiches, sweets, tea, coffee, pantry table, tickets for sale on a jam basket, grocery box. $7 adults, $3 children ages 5-10, children under 5 free.
