Halliday, MacKay, Simpson named athletes of the year at NNEC
Raymond Simpson was named the Male Athlete of the Year at North Nova Education Centre’s non-academic awards night on Wednesday.
Camryn Halliday and Lucia MacKay shared the Female Athlete of the Year award.
A standout basketball player who will play at St. Francis Xavier University next season, MacKay also played soccer, ultimate Frisbee and table tennis at NNEC.
Halliday excelled in hockey, track, softball, ultimate Frisbee and badminton, while Simpson was a star athlete in cross-country running and track and field.
The school’s ski team was named Team of the Year after winning Intermediate girls and boys regional titles, with several members placing in the top five in the province.
