WEEKLY EVENTS Thursdays

• New Glasgow 50-Plus Club – Dance exercises 11 a.m. Bridge 1:30 p.m.

• Karaoke/Dance – 8-11 p.m. at Pictou Legion. Admission $3. Everyone welcome.

• Colouring for Adults – Last Thursday of the month, 7 p.m. New Glasgow library.

• Community Choir – The Trinitaria­ns rehearse 10 a.m.-12, Multi-Purpose Room, Trinity United Church, Temperance St., New Glasgow, MacLean St. entrance. New members welcome. More info contact Monica George Punke at (902) 752-1297.

• Al-Anon – 12-step-program at 7 p.m. at Nova Scotia Community College in Stellarton, Room C153. Meetings for family and friends affected by a loved one addicted to alcohol.

• Zumba/Zumba Toning – Westville legion, 7-8 p.m., $5 drop-in.

• Cribbage – Pictou New Horizons Club, 7 p.m. Admission $2.

• Card Party – 7:30 p.m. in the Thorburn Fire Hall. Light lunch served.

• VON-Adult Day Program – Therapeuti­c activities and caregiver relief with focus on wellness, socializat­ion, recreation and rehabilita­tion. For adults at risk of going into LTC. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Westville Recreation Building. Call 301-9538 for info. Transporta­tion can be provided.

• ABCs for Babies – Pictou library 10:30 a.m. for newborns to 15 months.

• Knit or Crochet – Drop-in group, Pictou library 3-4:30 p.m. Bring your own yarn and needles.

• Bluenose Rug Hooking – from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Superstore community room, New Glasgow. New members welcome.

• Tween Scene – 3-4 p.m., Westville Library, ages 8-14 invited to hang out and create together. Crafts, games, puppetry, art, poetry, guest speakers, snacks. To register, 902396-5022.

• Community Café – Pictou library 1:30-3:30 p.m. Heather DeVouge from Whole Home Organizing will help with the way we look at space, making lives easier in a home that is organized and functionin­g well.

• Pictou County Injured Workers Associatio­n – Monthly meeting 7 p.m. at St John’s Parish Hall, 390 High St., New Glasgow.

• Weekly Music Circle Café Jam – West Branch Hall 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission for players is free, listeners free will, $2.50 suggested. Light refreshmen­ts. Proceeds to Community Hall. Shared sweets!

• Auction 45’s – Trenton Legion 7 p.m.

June 14

• Book Club Closing Dinner – Pictou library 6 p.m. Joining us will be author Linda Little. To join Tuesday or Thursday book club in September call the library and speak with Bonnie or Janice.

• Pictou County Fuel Fund – Annual general meeting 4:30 p.m. at Summer Street Industries in New Glasgow. The organizati­on offers fuel once per heating season to individual­s and households in urgent need.

June 14-16

• Book Sale – Thursday, Friday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-12, held by Lady of Lourdes CWL, Sister Catherine Steele Centre in Lourdes. Donations welcome.

June 15

• Riverside Cemetery Company – Annual meeting, Aberdeen Sobeys community room 6:30 p.m. Caretakers of Riverside, Pioneer and Lorne St. cemeteries. Lot holders and all others welcome.

• Teddy Bear Sleepover – New Glasgow library 6 p.m. Register your stuffed friend, read them a story, tuck them in for the night, make a craft to take home. Pick up your stuffed animal Saturday morning. All ages.

• Family Round and Square Dance – St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Hwy 245 Maryvale, Antigonish Co., 9 p.m.-12. Music provided by Rodney MacDonald and guest. Admission $10. Children 12 and under free when accompanie­d by an adult. Tea and sweets provided!

• Annual Fish for a Wish – Hosted by Pictou County Chapter of Children’s Wish and LORDA 10am-2pm., at LORDA Park, 1480 Highway 289, Lansdowne. Fundraisin­g BBQ, door prizes, face painting, 50/50 and trophies for biggest and littlest fish.
