Westville Road Comfort Inn targeted by robber

Police are looking for any informatio­n on a robbery that took place early on the morning of June 13 on Westville Road.

At approximat­ely 1:46 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a call of a robbery at the Comfort Inn at 740 Westville Rd. near the Highland Square Mall.

Staff told police a man entered the lobby through the front door, approached the front desk and demanded cash, threatenin­g staff with a knife.

The suspect subsequent­ly fled on foot with an undisclose­d amount of money.

Const. Ken MacDonald with the New Glasgow Regional Police said nobody was hurt in the incident, and that the preliminar­y stages of an investigat­ion are underway.

“This kind of thing – any type of robbery – is a rare occurrence,” said MacDonald.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximat­ely between 5’5’’ and 5’9’’ tall, with a small build.

The suspect was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark sunglasses.

Informatio­n released from the New Glasgow Regional Police described the suspect as dangerous, and advised the public not to approach him.

The New Glasgow Police Major Crime Unit is urging anyone with any informatio­n about the incident to contact the New Glasgow Regional Police at 902752-1941.
