WEEKLY EVENTS Thursdays

• New Glasgow 50-Plus Club – Dance exercises 11 a.m. Bridge 1:30 p.m.

• Karaoke/Dance – 8-11 p.m. at Pictou Legion. Admission $3. Everyone welcome.

• Colouring for Adults – Last Thursday of the month, 7 p.m. New Glasgow library.

• Community Choir – The Trinitaria­ns rehearse 10 a.m.-12, Multi-Purpose Room, Trinity United Church, Temperance St., New Glasgow, MacLean St. entrance. New members welcome. More info contact Monica George Punke at (902) 752-1297.

• Al-Anon – 12-step-program at 7 p.m. at Nova Scotia Community College in Stellarton, Room C153. Meetings for family and friends affected by a loved one addicted to alcohol.

• Zumba/Zumba Toning – Westville legion, 7-8 p.m., $5 drop-in.

• Cribbage – Pictou New Horizons Club, 7 p.m. Admission $2.

• Meditation Evening – Everyone welcome at East River Meditation Healing Centre, 337 Forbes St., New Glasgow, 8 p.m. For info call Mark or Alexandria 755-4325.

• Card Party – 7:30 p.m. in the Thorburn Fire Hall. Light lunch served.

• VON-Adult Day Program – Therapeuti­c activities and caregiver relief with focus on wellness, socializat­ion, recreation and rehabilita­tion. For adults at risk of going into LTC. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Westville Recreation Building. Call 301-9538 for info. Transporta­tion can be provided.

• ABCs for Babies – Pictou library 10:30 a.m. for newborns to 15 months.

• Knit or Crochet – Drop-in group, Pictou library 3-4:30 p.m. Bring your own yarn and needles.

• Bluenose Rug Hooking – from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Superstore community room, New Glasgow. New members welcome.

• Tween Scene – 3-4 p.m., Westville Library, ages 8-14 invited to hang out and create together. Crafts, games, puppetry, art, poetry, guest speakers, snacks. To register, 902396-5022.

• Legos at the Library – 3-4 p.m., New Glasgow Library.

DAILY EVENTS June 20

• Scotsburn Recreation Club –

Hosting emergency community meeting 7 p.m. at the JP Gammon recreation and community hall. This is an important step in determinin­g the future of our club and the properties we own (community hall and recreation field).

• Community Luncheon – Westville Salvation Army 11:30 p.m. Last one till the fall.

• Music Circle Café Jam – West Branch Hall 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission for players is free, listeners free will, $2.50 suggested. Light refreshmen­ts. Proceeds to community hall. Shared sweets!

June 21

• Atlantic Mission Society – Annual meeting 10 a.m. at Camp Geddie.

• Place Game – Creative way to offer ideas for improvemen­ts to exterior of New Glasgow library, 12 and 3 p.m. RSVP by dropping by, calling 902755-6031

• Photo Display – SNAPS (Scotsburn Northumber­land Amateur Photograph­ic Society) will be putting on a display at the deCoste Centre in Pictou.

Silent Auction – Scotia Bank, Pictou, during regular banking hours. Auction will close at 4 p.m. June 29. Fundraiser for Pictou County Chapter CA-R-MA (Cat Rescue Maritimes).

Until July 6

• RoadWorks by Hanna Minzloff – Temporary exhibit of everyday scenes of Nova Scotia workers, Museum of Industry, Stellarton, Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free admission to view

this exhibit.

Until Sept 5

• Art in the Hall 3 – Exploratio­n of local art at Museum of Industry, Stellarton. Featured artists: Curtis Botham, Geneviève Brideau, Joan Krawczyk, Carolyn Ritchie Bedford, Jeffrey Turnbull. Interpreti­ng very personal ideas about doctor-patient relationsh­ips, environmen­tal degradatio­n and de-industrial­ization. Free admission to view the show.

June 21-23

• Book Sale – Thursday, Friday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.12, held by Lady of Lourdes CWL, Sister Catherine Steele Centre in Lourdes. Donations welcome.
