WESTVILLE – Charles Frederick “Fred” Reid, 70, Westville, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Montreal, Que., he was a son of the late Charles and Patricia (Colahan) Reid. He was a member of St. Georges Anglican Church, New Glasgow. Fred was a caring, generous man, who was dearly loved by his family. He greatly enjoyed the company of his dog, Pixie and cat, Jasper. Fred now is at peace, resting in the arms of his beloved Theresa, in the beautiful city of gold.

Surviving are children, Linda (Brian) Marcott, Trenton; Derek Reid, Halifax; Mary Playfair, Trenton; grandchild­ren, David (Holly), Josh (Alana), Courtney (Alex), Caitlin, Brandon and Ryan; great-grandchild­ren, Caiden, Emerson and Sloane; sister, Gillian Sherwood, England; brother Jeffery Allan (Cathy) Reid, Calgary, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Robert “Bubbers” (Charlene) Smith, New Glasgow; Alan Smith, Bridgevill­e; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by wife, Theresa (Smith); brother-in-law, Greame Sherwood.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 25 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, in the chapel with Rev. Falen McNulty officiatin­g.
