PICTOU – Gwendolyn Viola Murphy, born in Tatamagouc­he, Aug. 19, 1955, a daughter of the late Dorothy (née Ferguson) and Alburn Murphy, passed peacefully in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on Monday June 25, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.

Gwen had a passion for life and always doing well by others. She loved to bake, cook, and share it all. She enjoyed her time with family and friends, and especially loved her grandchild­ren, trying her best to be there for all the special moments. She had a huge heart, a memorable laugh and was always there to listen and comfort anyone who confided in her. She worked in many fields over her lifetime, from Michelin, Al’s Place Restaurant, caregiver and house cleaning, which she retired from due to complicati­ons with COPD and Cancer.

She is survived by her children, Dana (Rhonda), Scotsburn; Dawn (Randy), Westville; grandchild­ren, Noah, Lauren, Ronin and Ally; sisters, Carol (Vernon), Tatamagouc­he; Joan (Wayne), Truro; Elizabeth, Brantford Ontario; Bill (Eunice), Coleville, Saskatchew­an; Roxanne (Jimmy) MacKenzie, West Branch; Loretta (Paul), Bible Hill; former husband, Kevin Langille, Plainfield; godchild, Erica Sutherland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predecease­d by her parents, Alburn and Dorothy Murphy as noted; brother, Rollie; brothers-in-law, Steven, Dennis; father-in-law, Lawrence Langille.

Special mention to the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital, the V.O.N. Dr Kwasnik, Debbie Williams, and all the Palliative Nurses who cared for our mother. Also to her special friends and family members who went above and beyond for her, your thoughtful­ness will not be forgotten.

Private Committal Service will be held in Earltown Village Cemetery. A Celebratio­n of Life Memorial will be held 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Earltown Hall. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Earltown Village Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
