According to the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC):
In no cases should the width of a crosswalk be less than 2.5 metres.
Where ground-mounted crosswalk signs are used, there also must be appropriate crosswalk pavement markings. Signs are not required for crosswalks at signalized intersections or stop signs.
