Burning restrictions must be adhered to

PICTOU — Pictou’s fire department is reminding town residents that burn restrictions apply to them, as well.

Chief Paul Janes told council at a recent meeting while it does have its own open burning bylaw, burn restrictions by the Department of Natural Resources are also in place.

Currently, burn restrictions are being enforced in Pictou County due to dry weather conditions. James said if he does see a Pictou resident with an open flame in their yard, he will make a point to visit the home to remind them of the restrictions.
