Major events come off with few problems

PICTOU — Pictou County RCMP say two major events in the Town of Pictou were held with few incidents to report.

Cpl. Greg Deagle told Pictou town council there were no incidents to report from the No Pipe Rally held July 6 on the town’s waterfront. He said officers had several plans in place, both on land and water, but none had to be put into action. At the Lobster Carnival, Deagle said the number of people arrested during the weekend was lower than with past years. He said seven people spent the night in cells for various offences whereas in the past that number has been as high as 13.
