Water treatment plant a bit behind schedule

-

PICTOU — A new water treatment plant in Pictou is still on budget, but not necessarily on time.

Kyle Slaunwhite, project manager for the Town of Pictou, recently told council exterior work to the building will take place this week, including siding and roofing. However, its pumping stations will be about two months behind schedule.

Work on other projects by the contractor has prompted the delays, taking time away from the water treatment plant. The delay will not cost the town more. Water rates will come into effect as scheduled, since the town expects hearings with the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to take place in October. If they are approved, the new water bills could be issued by March 2019.
