First Baptist camps help young people hone skills

-

Ben Dunnett and Jonathan Rogers have a busy summer scheduled. The pair are working this summer at First Baptist Church in New Glasgow and have come up with a series of day camps for youth. The first began earlier this week.

Over the next two months they will host four weeks of day camps, designed to teach youth skills while also offering an opportunity to learn more about God.

“One of the main goals is we made these camps to be skill camps,” Rogers said. “They will get skills out of them.”

Dunnett said they’ve tried to cover a variety of topics to appeal to the different areas of interest youth might have. Camp themes cover everything from the creative arts and sports to public speaking. There is no cost for the camps. “We wanted to keep it as something we were doing for the community and keep it cost free,” Dunnett explained.

All the events run 8 a.m. to noon. The day camps are open to ages eight to 12.
