Challenger Baseball raising money for 2019 trip

Pictou County Challenger baseball is in its fifth year in Pictou County, a program for people with physical and/or cognitive disabiliti­es.

Challenger baseball is an adaptive baseball program to help all children thrive in a team environmen­t while making many friends and achieving many life skills to help in everyday living. The program’s philosophy is “on a team, in a uniform,” said co-organizer Adam Casey.

Each week, they have numerous volunteers called “Buddies” to help achieve individual goals and team goals.

The local group is part of Challenger Baseball Canada, which is directly sponsored and endorsed by the Toronto Blue Jays, one of many programs across Canada.

“Our program is excited for a dream come true opportunit­y for our athletes, ‘Buddies’ and their families,” Casey added. “We are planning to attend the Canadian Challenger Baseball National Jamboree in Toronto at the Rogers Centre with the Toronto Blue Jays, in 2019.”

The group is selling advertisin­g spaces in a provincial jamboree program, being hosted in Stellarton on Aug. 11.

Advertisin­g space available is $100 for a full-page ad or $75 for a half-page ad. They will put your company logo and/or a welcome message from you or your company, as requested by you.
