Pictou County represented on Nova Scotia Music Award nominee list
Some Pictou County residents and venues have made the list of Nova Scotia Music Award nominees released this week.
The Stanfields have both been nominated for three awards while Alert the Medic has been nominated for rock recording of the year. Both bands have Pictou County connections.
The Commune was nominated for venue of the year and the Merigomish Schoolhouse Community Centre was nominated for community presenter of the year.
Stellarton native Zack Glenen has been nominated for volunteer of the year.
The Nova Scotia Music Awards will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) in Truro.
All current members of Music Nova Scotia are eligible to vote for this year’s Music and Industry Awards, and can visit the Music Nova Scotia website to do so. Voting is open now and will close on Friday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m. ADT. Music Nova Scotia members will receive voting instructions via email. But members aren’t the only ones who are allowed to participate — the public will get the chance to vote for the Entertainer of the Year Award, voting opens Friday, Oct. 5, and closes on Friday, Oct. 19. The Music Nova Scotia Awards celebration and closing party will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Holiday Inn Truro, all the winners will be revealed and awards presented, the celebration kicks off at 7 p.m.
