• Self esteem – Pictou County Women’s Resource and Sexual Assault Centre is offering a self esteem course for women. Call the Centre, 902-755-4647 to indicate whether day or evening would be preferable and which topics would be of interest to you.

• Get your GED – Free classes for those who want to improve their reading skills or obtain their GED of- fered by Pictou County Continuous Learning Associatio­n. Must be 19 years of age or over and have been out of school for more than one year. Register at 485-7014 or 755-5827 for classes starting the week of Sept. 24. Choose the class that suits you best – morning classes in Pictou, morning or full time classes in New Glasgow or an evening class at the NSCC in Stellarton.

• Classic Country Music Jam, every Tueday at Lourdes Hall, 6:30 to

• PiCCoLA AGM – The AGM for the Pictou County Continuous Learning Associatio­n (PiCCoLA) will be held at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the New Glasgow location, 174 Archimedes St.

• Family round and square dance

– at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Hwy 245 Maryvale, Antigonish Co. from 9 p.m.-12 a.m. Music provided by Glenn Graham and Guest. Admission: $10. Children 12 and under free when accompanie­d by an adult. Tea and sweets provided.

• Fall Harvest and Pantry Sale – Meadowvill­e-Poplar Hill Community Hall, 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. • Auction 45’s – at Trenton Legion

at 1 p.m. • Shore Road Yard Sale – Hwy #245, Sutherland’s River to Knoydart, 9 a.m. -2 p.m. Included will be local businesses and non for profit groups promoting their products. • BBQ and Yard Sale – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at French River Hall hosted by French River Cemetery Society. Donation drop off Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m.

• A Keppoch Wedding – featuring fiddles, bagpipes, dancing, vocals, story-telling and general hilarity is at the deCoste Centre, 2 p.m. This is the sixth production of the Ships of 1801.

• Fall Gospel Concert – 3:30 p.m. at Second United Baptist Church, 330 Washington Street, New Glasgow, featuring the East Preston United Baptist Church Mass Choir. Free will offering. Lunch to follow.
