Gimme a KISS: Tribute band ready to rock the deCoste centre

KISS was one of the top hard rock bands of the 1970s and ’80s and their popularity hasn’t waned much since.

Destroyer Canada is bringing the best of the band to the deCoste Performing Arts Centre Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Flashy costumes, makeup and powerful personalities like the memorable Gene Simmons were all trademarks of the original KISS.

“Tribute groups have been very popular at the deCoste; Destroyer Canada will be our sixth so far this year,” said deCoste marketing manager Jennifer MacLennan. “We believe it’s important to showcase a wide range of musical genres. While the rock and roll and heavy metal bands may not be appealing to our usual patrons, there is an audience in the area who enjoy this kind of music, as was proven by the success of the AC/DC and Pink Floyd tribute bands we had here this past summer.”

Destroyer Canada is based out of Windsor, Ont., and is made up of four talented musicians who have been in the business for 25 years and have staged more than 1,200 performances. Throughout their show they recreate the energy, powerhouse vocals and raw performance of a ’70s-era KISS show. They’ve performed at numerous venues over the years and are still one of the most sought after and hard-working KISS tribute bands around. They will play some of the classic KISS hits like Shout it Out Loud and Rock and Roll All Nite.
