Museum volunteers have created a wonderland of wintry towns and miniature festive settings to be enjoyed by the whole family. Free admission to view. • Jam Session – All singers, players, toe tappers and hummers are welcome at the jam sessions in the Durham Community Hall Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. Shared lunch. Silver collection.

• Art in the Hall 4 – until Dec 7, 2018. This is the fourth in a series of rotating installations of art by Pictou County artists. Curated by the Art At Large Collective, this show features six new and emerging artists. Free admission to view the show. Museum of Industry, Stellarton.

• Kid’s section – Lego Builders Club at the Museum of Industry Stellarton, Tuesdays 3 to 4 p.m. Ages 5 & older. Free admission, no pre-registration required.

• Art In The Industrial – until Dec. 14 at the Museum of Industry in Stellarton. This pop-up installation of the work of Steve Farmer inspires us to find art in unlikely industrial places, objects and surfaces. Free admission. Call 902-755-5425 for more details.

• Family Home Child Care Society AGM – 6 p.m. at 281 Foord Street, Stellarton. Everyone welcome.

• Special Service – worship in the style of Taize to begin the Advent Season. Green Hill - Alma United Church invites you to settle in for a brief time of music and reflection. Service at 7:30 p.m.; music introduced at 7 p.m.

December 8

• CARMA Fundraiser – at Pet Valu in New Glasgow from 12-4 p.m. Gift cards fundraisers, goodies for sale, pictures with Santa, donation cards and Tupperware that will donate 40 per cent of their proceeds to CARMA.

• Holiday at the Museum – Free admission at the Museum of Industry for a seasonally-inspired activity day including, Tiny Tinsel Town, Storytime with Santa – 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Help decorate the Kids’ Train or make an ornament for home – 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m, Museum shop sale, 20 per cent off, explore the pop-up shop of local artisans, bring a wrapped toy for NS North Nova Jeep Club Toy Drive (outside – until the Jeep is full) Meet Bubba and other St. John Ambulance therapy dogs who will be paying us a special, gentle visit.

December 9

• Candlelight Service – St. John’s Presbyterian, McLennan’s Mountain at 7 p.m. with The Mountain men choir, and favorite carols by local artists. Enjoy the old church decorated as it was in the 1800’s. Refreshments to follow.

• 9th Annual Christmas Concert – with the West Branch & Area Singers & Musicians at 7 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn. (Storm date, Sunday, Dec 16, 7 p.m.) Good Will offering to benefit Bethel Church, and the two churches and hall at West Branch. Lunch will follow.

• Christmas Open House – at Earth ARC Animal Respite Centre, 1-4 p.m. Bake sale, and Earth ARC Christmas cards, 50/50 and tickets on a Gift Basket. Complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider, decorations and carols as well as 23 horses. Located at 644 Heron Road, Four Mile Brook. Heron Road is off Highway 376, near Central West River.

• Ann Holton in Concert – at Green Hill - Alma United Church with songs of the season. she will be sharing the stage with a number of local musicians. Part of the Monday Music in Alma Concert Series. Admission: $10 or what you can afford.

• Pictou County Parkinson Support Group – meeting 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room of the Atlantic Superstore.

• Christmas on the Mountain – at 4 p.m. with Shaun MacLean and Friends at Knox Presbyterian Church, 1676 Tower Rd, Blue Mountain Pictou County. Free will offering.

• 20 Minutes at The Foot Of The Cradle – on Dec. 17- Dec 20 from 12:10 - 12:30 p.m. at Second United Baptist Church, 330 Washington St., New Glasgow. Featuring: Mon.”Inner Voice”; Tues. “The Alcorns”; Wed. “Lloyd Maclean and Friends; Thurs. “Second Baptist Choir”. All welcome. Enjoy the music, relaxation, fellowship and reflection.
