• Gamblers Anonymous – Gamblers Anonymous meeting held every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Church, 151 Temperance Street, New Glasgow, N.S. (side door by office). Do you or someone you know have a gambling problem? Want to stop? We can help!

• Karaoke Night – at RCL Branch 35, Westville, Sunday nights with Kerry Williams from 7:30 – 11 p.m. Admission is $2/person.

• Stellarton Legion Chase the Ace – weekly Friday Nights at 9 p.m. Tickets for sale daily in the lounge up to 8:30 pm on Friday. Tickets $5 for 4. You do not need to be present to win.

• Jam Session – All singers, players, toe tappers and hummers are welcome at the jam sessions in the Durham Community Hall Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m. Shared lunch. Silver collection.

• Weekly Music Circle Café Jam – Wednesdays 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at West Branch Hall. Admission for players is free, listeners free will, $2.50 suggested. Limited kitchen. Proceeds; Community Hall. Shared sweets.

• Kid’s section – Lego Builders Club at the Museum of Industry Stellarton, Tuesdays 3 to 4 p.m. Ages 5 & older. Free admission, no pre-registrati­on required.

• Self Esteem Workshop – Tuesdays Jan. 8 through Feb. 26 at the Ward 1 Rec Centre in New Glasgow, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hosted by the Pictou County Women’s Resource and Sexual Assault Centre.

• Karaoke Talent Contest –– hosted by Br 28 Stellarton Legion on Friday nights during their regular Karaoke show beginning Feb. 1. A one-time entrance fee of $10 is due your first night. Sign up sheet is at the Legion the next two Fridays or you can join in up until the sixth week when 12 finalists are chosen. Two singers advance each week by popular vote. The last four contestant­s will be judged by a panel of three from the local music scene. Prize is $ 500 to the winner. • Fly Tying – The Pictou County Fly Tyers meet at the Stellarton Seniors Club at the corner of Acadia Avenue and Park Street (opposite the Nova Scotia Community College), 6:309 p.m. Sundays. Equipment and materials will be provided. All beginner, novice and experience­d fly tyers are welcome.

• Coffee Party – at St. Andrew’s Church New Glasgow with pantry table. Event goes from 10 a.m.12 p.m. with an admission of $8.

• Chocoholic­s 2019 – at Pictou United Church Hall, 6-8 p.m. Chocolate fun for all ages. Desserts, silent auction, chocolate fountain, face painting, chocolate making, games (bingo, fish pond, cupcake walk etc.) Admission at the door. $2 per person – and buy you activity tickets separately or $20 for a family pack which includes 20 tickets for the various chocoholic­s activities.

• Maud Lewis Inspired Felt Creations – with NSCAD Artist in Residence Sarah Mosher, 10:30 a.m. –12 p.m.; New Glasgow Public Library, 182 Dalhousie Street, New Glasgow. • Glass Slipper Organizati­on – New Glasgow will hold a prom dress giveaway at New Glasgow Library, 182 Dalhousie Street, noon to 4 p.m. Valid student ID required to get a dress. There are more than 220 dresses to choose from and the library is still accepting donations.

• Alpha Program – hosted by the Pictou Deanery Churches beginning March 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. and continuing for 10 weeks. Alpha is a series of interactiv­e sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. There’s no pressure, no follow-up and no charge. Each session includes a meal, a short film and discussion about life, faith and God. All are welcome regardless of your faith experience.
