13-year-old recognized for helping sell Nissan vehicles.
A student from East Pictou Middle School who can’t legally drive a car just received a personal letter from the president of Nissan Canada.
Needless to say, young Cole Ross is passionate about the brand.
And after he helped the company sell seven cars with a combined value of over $300,000, Nissan Canada decided to recognize one of their most passionate ambassadors.
“He knows more about the Nissan brand than some of our salespeople,” said sales manager Mike MacLean, who has gotten to know Ross well over the last few years.
“He looks to see what’s sold and what’s new and he’ll talk to people about the new product,” MacLean said. “We’re very lucky to have Cole in our corner.”
Ross has been travelling from his home in Barney’s River with his grandfather to the Nissan dealership in Westville every weekend, and has been passionate about the Nissan brand for a long time.
“Probably since he was old enough to know what a car was,” said his father Mark.
With family, friends and strangers, Ross isn’t shy about his favourite cars, but when asked what his sales approach is, he feels it’s best to let the product speak for itself.
“I just tell them what the car has,” said a smiling Ross outside of the dealership on Oct. 29 where he was met not only by three of Atlantic Canada’s top Nissan managers but by everyone who he has helped put behind the wheel of a new car from his favourite dealership.
“He’s definitely a natural,” said Chandra MacDonald, who made the drive from Lyon’s Brook in her newest ride.
“I’m his latest sale,” she said. “Just five days ago.”
MacDonald along with a group of Ross’s family and friends were all waiting for Ross at 3 p.m.
Ross says he knew that something
was up when he was asked to come by the dealership on a weekday, but he didn’t know the extent of the appreciation he’d receive when he got there.
“I didn’t think it was going to be like this, with everyone and their cars,” he said.
In an interview, Ross said that he’s looking forward to starting high school. Some incredibly encouraging words from the higher-ups in the company that he loves could go a long way to bringing him closer to his eventual goal: to work for Nissan as a designer.
“As soon as you see a car, the look is what draws you in,” he said. “I want to be the one to draw attention to the car.”
