Take time to brag on God

Acts 15:1-12

Nobody likes a braggart. Have you ever met someone who is the best (singer, wood-worker, etc.) that they know? And they just can’t wait to tell you. I recently met someone who was telling me how sophisticated (yes, he used that word) he was. I was nodding gravely when I noticed mustard on his tie and had to suppress my inner giggle.

But to brag on someone else, now that’s just dandy. In fact, Solomon told us: (Pro 27:2) Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

We often brag on the exploits of others because they have impressed us in someway and with that same theme in mind, it is proper for us to brag on God.

After the church dissension in Antioch, Paul and Barnabas travelled to Jerusalem to attend the church counsel.

On the way there, they stopped by various churches on the way and told others what the Lord had done.

(Act 15:3) And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and

Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

Then too at Jerusalem, when given a chance to speak they bragged on God how He had done miracles among the Gentile people.

(Act 15:12) Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Let us all take time today to brag on God, to declare to others His goodness in our lives and the fact that He did for me what no one else could do.
