Glen Haven Manor completes new strategic plan

Glen Haven Manor has officially completed a new Strategic Plan that will provide a blueprint and road map moving forward.

The plan is the result of many interactiv­e engagement sessions with residents, families, staff, community partners and the Glen Haven Board of Directors.

CEO Lisa M. Smith describes the sessions as interactiv­e and empowering with insight, motivation and inspiratio­n.

“We are excited to move forward with a plan that was created a result of collaborat­ion and teamwork,” explained Smith. “As we embark upon a journey of realizing our new strategic directions, our 2019-2024 Strategic Plan creates a blueprint for us to achieve our vision to be

Nova Scotia’s premiere residentan­d family-centred care provider and community difference maker, building momentum and vitality in continuing care. Each and every day it is our mission to provide outstandin­g quality of life and well-being to our residents and clients with a commitment to excellence in all that we do.”

Glen Haven’s four key strategic priorities are: Embracing Resident and Family Centered Care through an inclusive person-centred model that is sensitive to and accepting of individual preference and lifetime practices; Leading Safety, Quality and Innovation with a continuous quality improvemen­t approach that aligns with Accreditat­ion Canada standards and focusing on best practice, innovation and redesign honouring residents’ rights to safe quality care and Inspiring Partner and Community Engagement harnessing the value and strength of partner contributi­ons.

“We live a culture that champions dignity, quality, safety and inclusion, not only ensuring our residents’ rights are respected and followed but that these rights are our mantra and guiding principles in every aspect of our organizati­on,” Smith said. “We invest in continuous quality improvemen­t, the ability to adapt and change while adhering to the highest standards as set by Accreditat­ion Canada as well as researchin­g and following best practices and embracing compelling innovation­s. When attracting the best and brightest of staff, our residents’ needs and interest are at the centre of decision making. We take pride in and celebrate our growing diversity among both residents and staff.”
