A HUGE THANK YOU IS IN ORDER

-

To say that the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling was a “win” for the community is an understatement for sure.

What a fantastic week for the entire region. The organizing committee and the staff at the Wellness Centre worked tirelessly to ensure a world-class experience was had by all. With a team of 269 volunteers, there are too many people to thank for their hard work, but let me just say that a huge thank you is in order.

Of course, an event of this magnitude would not happen without the financial support of our many sponsors and all three levels of government.

As the event was upon us, Pictou County pride was shining as brightly as ever. All athletes, Sportsnet members and visiting fans were shown our “worldclass” hospitality. This was evident in the glowing reviews and smiles all week long.

This was a financial win for the Pictou County economy, the local curling community and the Wellness Centre. I would like to give a big shout-out to our community rinks, which saw the overflow in ice rentals from the hockey/figure skating groups that use our facility, for stepping up to ensure our event was so successful.

For anyone who visited the Wellness Centre for the first time, I’m sure you had your eyes opened to what a wonderful asset we have. We look forward to hosting future events so that we can showcase the versatility of this beautiful venue.

Finally, to the people of Pictou County, thank you for supporting this awesome event and also for your continued support all year long.

The Board of the Wellness Centre would like to give a sincere thank you to all involved.

Shannon MacInnis Mayor of Trenton Chairman of the board, Pictou County Wellness Centre
