• Gamblers Anonymous – Gamblers Anonymous meeting held every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Church, 151 Temperance Street, New Glasgow, N.S. (side door by office). Do you or someone you know have a gambling problem? Want to stop? We can help!

• Karaoke Night – at RCL Branch 35, Westville, Sunday nights with Kerry Williams from 7:30 – 11 p.m. Admission is $2/person.

• Stellarton and Area Lions Club – Meeting time 6:30 p.m. - 2nd and 4th Monday in RCAFA-meeting room – 221 Foord St, Stellarton NS. Visitors welcome.

• Amateur Ball Hockey – Friday nights all summer long, 6-8 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 384 Abercrombi­e

• Employabil­ity Skills Workshops – for youth held at Roots House Wednesdays from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Workshops are for any youth aged 16 - 24. Topics include: Interview Skills, Conflict Resolution, Communicat­ion, Dressing for Success, and many more.

• Lego Builders Club – Tuesdays 3 to 4 p.m. at Museum of Industry, Stellarton. Ages 5 and older. Drop in to build, invent and create with Lego, including special projects featuring gears, machines, and mechanisms. Free admission, no pre-registrati­on required.

• Hunters Breakfast – Saturdays Oct. 26- Dec. 14 at Springvill­e Church Hall, 6:30-10 a.m.

• Laughter Social Club – meets at the New Glasgow Library on Nov. 26, Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 from 12:10 - 12:50 p.m. Join us for a great belly laugh - guaranteed to boost your spirits and your health.

• Funding Applicatio­ns – The United Way of Pictou County is now accepting applicatio­ns for the 2020 funding period from local charitable organizati­ons serving Pictou County. • Christmas Craft Bazaar – at the Alma Fire Hall on Friday (9 a.m.6 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.5 p.m.). Admission $2. Lots of parking available and the hall is wheelchair accessible. Please bring reusable shopping bags. Sponsored by the Alma Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

• St. Andrews Ladies Guild

– will be hosting a Christmas coffee party in the lower hall of St. Andrews Church , New Glasgow (George St. entrance ) from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Admission $8 and there will be a pantry table.

• Art on the Wall – for Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary. All of the pieces of art currently on display on the walls of the main floor of the Aberdeen Hospital will be swapped out for new artwork. Local artists have the opportunit­y to display/sell their creations.

• Annual Christmas Tea & Sale

– Christ Anglican Church, Bridge Avenue, Stellarton, 2-4 p.m. Pantry tables, books and new-to-you tables and more. Serving strawberry shortcake, tea, coffee or juice. Admission: $8.

• Christmast Turkey Supper – Sponsored by Ladies Auxiliary, Second Baptist Church, 330 Washington Street, New Glasgow, 4-6 p.m. Cost: $13 adults; 10 and under $6.

December 1

• Chase the Ace – Westville Rink and Westville Legion from 1-3 p.m. at the Westville Legion. Jackpot is at $7,204.

• Sing Joy! – 3 p.m., Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, with the Trinitaria­ns and Voicetime Studio Singers under the direction of Monica George Punke. Sandra Johnson, accompanis­t, and Caroline Boulter, violin. Enjoy 90 minutes of the best Christmas music ever. Adults: $15, Seniors: $12 and Students: $7. • CARMA Pictou County – is having Santa photos at Global Pet Foods at 91 Lawrence Blvd in Stellarton from 12-3 p.m. Photos are printed on site so no pick up is required. CARMA asks for a $10 donation for the photo. All proceeds go to the community cats of Pictou County.

• Merigomish United Church Annual Memorial Tree Lighting Service – 7 p.m. to begin this season of Advent at Merigomish United Church. Violinist, Fhinn Timmons and guest singers will join the choir and Rev. Karen Ross will lead the service. Refreshmen­ts will be served following service. To purchase a light for $5 in memory of a loved one; call Dorothy Lange at 902-926-2757. This Memorial Tree shines through out the seasons of Advent and Christmas in the Village of Merigomish.

• The Village Sings & Friends – will present “Dream a Dream” – a Christmas Cantata at 3 p.m. at Salem United Church, River John. Free admission but donations accepted for Canadian Foodgrains Bank to support the mission of ending global hunger.

• 15th Annual Festival of Lights – at Scotsburn United Church, 7 p.m. Service will include special music, readings, and candle lighting before moving outside to “turn on the lights” on the festival tree. The lights will shine throughout the Christmas season, in memory of loved ones who have passed away, OR in celebratio­n of someone significan­t in your life. Light lunch to follow.

December 2

• Monday Music in Alma – at 7:30 p.m. presents Campbell & Green. This musical duo will present an evening of seasonal songs and more; many written by them and some other favourites as well. Venue: Green Hill Alma United Church, 92 Alma Loop. Cost: $10 or what you can afford.

December 3

• Prize Bingo – at Scotsburn Fire Hall, 7-9:30 p.m. Games, food, prizes. All proceeds to upgrades to JP Gammon Hall. Cost, $10.

December 4

• Christmas Variety Concert– hosted by the Westville Social Committee at 7 p.m. at Westville Civic Building. There will be a variety of entertainm­ent followed by a Christmas Carol Sing. Free will offering at the door donated to the Pictou County Military Museum.

• RTO Christmas Dinner – 5:30 p.m. at Swiss Chalet. Please RSVP Cindy at 902-926-2310 if you plan to attend.

• Free Lunch – Glazed ham luncheon with roll and vegetables and ginger-apple crumble dessert, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Church of the Holy Name, North Main Street, Westville. If a cancellati­on arises, alternate date is Dec. 5. Announceme­nt will be made on local radio.

December 7

• Christmas Community Tea – 2-4 p.m. Bridgevill­e Community Club. Come and relax in a Christmas atmosphere and have a cup of tea with sweets and sandwiches. Children are welcome to come and put a yummy topping on a dish of ice cream and decorate a cookie or cupcake. Admission is $4 for adults. Children free.

• Christmas Market – 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Garden of Eden Community Centre. Christmas baking, crafts, handmade cards, preserves, local honey and lots more. Lunch available. Free admission, free hot cider and treats. More info call 902-9222093 or 902-922-2739.
