Authentic Fleetwood Mac sound by Gypsy presented at deCoste

PICTOU, N.S. — The music of Fleetwood Mac is recognized and loved by many. Songs like “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon” and “Don’t Stop” bring memories flooding back for fans. Sharon Resky, lead singer for the band GYPSY, suggested this was part of the reason she and bandmate Jon Cornwall, who plays keyboards and guitar, decided to change their cover band into a full Fleetwood Mac performance back in 2007. “Whenever we performed any Fleetwood Mac songs, people always asked us to learn more,” Resky says. “We originally only did three.” Gypsy comes to the deCoste Centre for the Performing Arts Saturday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. The pair have been playing together for over 18 years, 12 as the Fleetwood Mac tribute band GYPSY. Additional band members include Sheila Lamplugh (keyboards) who helps create the blend of voices for Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham and Christine McVie; Don Morash’s plays guitar, Aran Hill plays a fretless bass and Maurice Nadeau is drummer for GYPSY. To keep things fresh, the band added Stevie Nicks songs and duets over the years which keeps fans interested and coming back to see them. “We do our utmost best to give authentic, memorable performances,” Resky says. “The guests are coming for the memories of where they were when they heard a certain Fleetwood Mac song in their life. We feel that GYPSY provides that experience for our guests ... one song at a time.” For tickets, contact the deCoste box office Monday to Friday 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 902-485-8848, toll free at 1-800-353-5338, online at decostecentre.ca/tickets or by visiting in person at 99 Water St., Pictou. This performance will also have the Arts Are For Everyone free show passes available at local Pictou-Antigonish Regional Libraries.
