Comedian James Mullinger and friends set to take stage at Glasgow Square Theatre

- ADAM MACINNIS

British-born comedian James Mullinger will be taking the stage this weekend at Glasgow Square Theatre and is bringing some friends to share in the fun. Supporting Mullinger, who now calls New Brunswick home, will be P.E.I.’s Dan Hendricken and Nova Scotia’s Travis Lindsay in the Friday, Feb. 21, event which gets underway at 7:30 p.m. “They are two of the funniest comedians I have ever worked with,” Mullinger told The News. “Some performers pick openers that make them look good. I pick openers that are funnier than me because I want audiences to get the best possible show from beginning to end. And that is what I guarantee anyone coming to the show this Friday night!” Mullinger said he tries to keep his shows up to date and those in the audience in New Glasgow on Friday can expect a routine that covers everything from Harry and Meghan moving to Canada to the rumour that Pictou County might be getting a new Costco or Princess Auto. “I will also be telling behind-the-scenes stories from CBC’s The Debaters and sharing a story I haven’t told before about how Jerry Seinfeld inspired my move to Saint John, New Brunswick. Seriously!” he said. This is the fourth time that Mullinger has performed in Pictou County and said he loves it. “This week is the sixth anniversary of my move to the Maritimes so it will be a couple of hours of fun celebrating this beautiful part of the world,” he said. British comedian James Mullinger has sold out shows across the country and made appearances on CBC’s The Debaters, movies, TV shows, festivals, awards, magazines and stand-up specials Mullinger has toured extensively to packed houses across Canada and England and written and produced a big screen feature film starring actors from Downton Abbey and Twilight about his early years in stand-up, which was described as “unmissable” by GQ Magazine and “essential viewing. A funny, realistic look at what it takes to become a stand-up comedian,” by the Montreal Times. Mullinger has raised more than $100,000 for East Coast charities. He has also become one of Canada’s top comics, being nominated for both a Just For Laughs comedy award and a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Live Show.
