Stellarton taking safety precaution­s

The Town of Stellarton has split its public works staff into two crews as well as put in extensive cleaning protocol to help address concerns related to containing the spread of COVID 19.

In a release this week, the town said that public works staff will not be interactin­g with the public unless proper social distancing protocol is possible.

Stellarton Town Hall will be operating with reduced staff and reduced hours, but is closed to the public. Inperson bill payments will not be accepted.

“We encourage those who can make payments utilizing online banking,” the notice states.

Calls can still be made to Stellarton Town Hall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at (902) 752-2114, outside of office hours at (902) 752-6160.

Police will be increasing their use of personal protective equipment such as face masks and disposable gloves when responding to emergency calls.
