The WearWell Bombers are six games into the regular season of the Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League but head coach Jon Sim already sees the potential for a great season.

“We’re getting things in order and the team is coming along,” Sim said. “We have a real good group of kids this year and we’re looking forward to the season.”

The team, which calls the Pictou County Wellness Centre home, has a 4-2 record so far.

While their first regularseason game wasn’t until Oct. 17, many of the players took part in a camp Sim hosted in July and have been focusing on their skills ever since.

“The excitement in July was just fantastic and now that hockey season is here they’re back to somewhat normalcy. It’s great for the kids.”

Sim said this year’s team is a “working team."

“We like to work hard and we’re trying to do things the right way all the time,” he said. “Consistency is what we’re trying to get out of them. If they can continue to work like they are, we’ll be OK.”

Cade Moser is the team captain and is currently leading the team with four goals and three assists.

“I just hope I can be a good leader and work hard on and off the ice and hopefully produce,” he said, when asked what he hopes to bring to the team.

He believes they have a good mix of some experienced second-year players and younger players who will push them to do their best.

“Everybody coming up is doing really well too and playing really well,” Moser said.

While they weren’t able to have as many fans as in the past when they started the season, he’s hopeful now that they can have spectators that they’ll see more people in the seats cheering them on.

“I know from last year the fans really got us going,” he said.
